Recruitment & propaganda posters of the waffen ss.

The Waffen SS used the media as a primary source of influence when recruiting for its ranks. Almost all German towns and cities had recruiting offices for the Waffen SS. As Germany invaded the Western and Eastern countries of Europe the Waffen SS started to recruit foreign nationals in its fight against communism. They had success in recruiting from amongst others Scandinavia and the Baltic States, but less success in Italy and with POW`s. The posters would be in the native tongue of the invaded countries and would carry images of national heroes depicted as part of a Germanic army.
